A EK2 with travelling pouch

Got this a few years ago. I had my doubts about it being real (the pouch I mean, The EK is mm 76) but it may be. No real provenace(sic) for the thing.
The ring as you see it was bent over and conforms to the shape of the cross front. Kinda nice.

Never seen one of these before, but it would make sense if we assume that soldiers would keep their EK2 with them at all times, in combat, etc...
