$3 swap meet ek2 real?

i bought this cross as a boot fair sunday for £2 $3
3 piece construction iron centre
the frame stamping looks a bit crude
any chance its real?

Hi Nick,

I don't recall any EK having a Dipping 3 other than a Souval and as that is not a Souval, in my view, I don't think the cross is authentic. Best to wait for some of the experts to comment though as I've been out of the EK field for several years now and they may view it differently.

... and have not seen anything that changes my view.

Knowing that this is your area of expertise though causes me to ask ... what is it you see that I might be missing?

Hi Stu,

Thanks for your question. I see similar dates. As for the frame, bad photos make it impossible to compare. I'm probably wrong but the dates are certainly (at least) a copy of the very distinctive 120 style.

I see the simularities in the core Trev but one look at the frame for me and IMO it is NG.

For $3, it was a low risk buy. Regardless, I would not have it in my collection as I feel that it is not authentic. Sorry. -Ger
