Good news I have to share with WAF friends...

My son is officially being discharged from the US Army TODAY! He'll be here this evening at his new, and permanent, duty station.

This is my son, Jonny, the day before he went into the Army many years ago. And, a photo at Arlington's Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. He's the guard with his back to the camera, his first 'walk'.

Where was his stationed abroad?

I was discharged last year from the Argentine army due to heart problems, but it was a good experience.

Thanks everyone! Thanks for your service, Sepp.

His 1-year o/s duty was in Africa with the 3rd Infantry (Old Guard). Their mission was to build fresh water wells for the natives in Ethiopia and Uganda. He took leave to raft down the Nile River at the peak of its water flow. His mom almost had a heart attack when she saw the photos he e-mailed to her.

Always good to hear of a serviceman home safe after doing his duty for his country even better it's for good.You must be proud and relieved at the same time.I will raise a glass to him with respect and I'm sure a few drinks will be drunk on your side of the pond as well.Congratulations Robert good news for sure.

A blessing in disguise...

He was assigned to a Striker Brigade here in WA State two years ago. Injuries to his back while in Africa resulted in him not being physically fit to be sent to combat with his unit to Afghanistan a year ago. His unit got hit pretty hard while in Afghanistan, and my son missed being a part of it. Thank God for that, is all I can say. God moves in mysterious ways.
