Wartime RK and 1957 RK price difference?

    Hello,

I was wondering if anyone knew what the average price difference was between a wartime RK and a 1957 RK. It will be a while be a while before I can afford to add a wartime RK to my collection but I thought perhaps I could purchase a 1957 RK possibly in the meantime.

    Thanks,

    Aaron

    That varies quite a bit.

Mint, not so mint? Cased, not cased? Maker?

'57 Rk's - not cased or attributed can range from $250 thru $1000+ plus depending on what model and year of manufacture.

Wartime (not cased in used condition):

    K&Q are cheapest - $7500-$8500 US
Juncker (again many different variations) - est. for standard L/12 800 pieces likely around $9000-$11,500 US
S&L (again a few variations) - est. for standard A-types likely $8500-10,000 US.

If they are cased and mint ... again depending on variation and common makers ... maybe up to or over $15,000 US.

Thanks! I guess just finding a 1957 RK for sale now is next, a not mint one is fine. I just want an RK in my collection

As in wartime KC's prices in 1957 KC's to differ a lot ....

Whilst a modern made one will cost 150 Euro, an early one will be 3x that, a Schickle framed one even more.
            Average ... you can buy 10x 1957 KC's for 1x wartime KC .

I'll have to start with a 1957 RK, a 60's, 70's one would be nice, I don't care about the condition I just want one

It's a recently (like yesterday) produced set. You can buy this kind of RK directly from Steinhauer und Lück for 75 € + taxes (about 100 € in the end)!

                    Best regards

                      Nils,

Can the public buy them directly?

                      Thanks,

                      Aaron

                        Hello Aaron,

i don't know for sure! Just send them an email if you are interested (you can easily find their homepage). The staff is very kind and i am sure they will answer your question!

However the early RK's which were produced for the veterans are of much better quality and accepted as collectible in the community. So if you want one of these Mathijs is quite spot on with the prices! Just look at the estand or ebay regulary and you will find what you are looking for!

                        Best regards

                        Nils

Unless $500-$1000 is out of the question for you, I would skip the modern S&L pieces. They are not nice or collectible, and they have no connection to history.

My advice would be to look for a good 1. Pattern S&L from the 1960s. They're very beautiful and in all likelihood belonged to a soldier. Introduce yourself in the 1957 Forum and let others know you're looking. It's a great group over there and someone will eventually help you find a good piece.

Here's a beautiful 1. Pattern S&L I used to own. Near wartime quality.

Thanks! You are always a big help. Very nice one, I think the 1957 RK is a better option for me at the moment as I can't be spending $10,000 on an RK
