The translation of spange into the English language is 'clasp'. Some o/s dealers use 'spange' to identify ribbon bars.

I also like ribbons, and have studied them for years. Not all ribbons applied to buttonholes in tunics, jackets, uniforms were 30mm wide, some were 25mm wide. I picked up a self-propelled arti wrapper many years ago from a WWII vet. He had stuffed the entire uniform into a cardboard box and brought it home with him. I ran ads in my local paper and he called me, and I bought it from him. It had an Ost and KVKII ribbon in the buttonhole, 25mm wide.

That is interesting the cross with the ribbon I think may have one time been on a uniform is 25mm and has certainly been sewn on to something at a slight angle.
Thanks for all the comments and information I do enjoy showing my 'booty',one of the pleasures of collecting for me.
