Hello everybody,
I got a couple more crosses yesterday and this is one of them - it's an example by J.H. Werner. I first saw this one for sale about 3 months ago on a dealers site that I hadn't used before, I was initially put off by the price but recently decided to treat myself again and I'm very pleased I did.
This particular piece displays the usual rounded inner corners of the frame and the beading around the swastika typical of this maker including the single dot of beading at the top left corner which is an indication of a good 137.
I've been looking at lots of pictures of all the 137s I could and it does occur to me that on a lot of 137s the beading doesn't quite match up where the vertical meets the horizontal of the 9 o'clock arm as well as it does on the other arms.
Anyway here's the pics. I hope you like them and please feel free to leave your comments. I always enjoy reading them.
First off, here's the front. It's not in bad shape.
It's actually quite an attractive cross
Another shot of the front of the cross showing the makers mark in the ring
This picture shows the date in better detail. The more I look at this cross the more I see I like - look at the lovely dark patina in between the beading.
A close up of the swastika and the rounded corners of the frame and the beading with the distinctive dot bead in the top left.
This following pic shows what I was on about with the beading not quite lined up as accurately as on the other arms.
The reverse.
And the ring stamped with an indistinct mark of 137.
I hope you enjoyed my pics of my latest cross - please let me know what you think. Cheers !
