Ek 1 clasp Screw back.

This is my latest acquisition from Jamie Cross.A screw back EK 1 Spange no maker mark so I was hoping someone would be able to identify,not many out there to compare with not that I have found anyway.

Hi Jon,

Sorry to see that you are the one who bought this spange. The disc is a fake and I believe that the spange is supposed to be a Meybauer but it isn't. Wait to see what others think, but I am pretty sure that it is a fake. Here is a Meybauer pin back as I don't believe they made a screw back. Jim

You're right Jim,

There are a number of things that immediately stand out to me.

Just to name a few:

1. There is no segmentation in the talons,
2. The clasp is too thick (sign of a British fake),
3. The outline of the wreath is wrong,
4. The detailing of the wreath is wrong,
5. Head and mouth is all wrong.
