    1st pattern EK2 spange buttonhole

Love at first sight this one,1st pattern EK2 spange on button hole ribbon. I had been looking for a miniature spange on a ribbon bar or stickpin but was pleased to find this on Jamie Cross's site, really is exquisite .Double book piece as well this set has been in "The Iron Time, a history of the iron cross" by Stephen Thomas Previtera on page 214 and also in the Book "The Iron Cross of 1939" By Gordon Williamson on Page 104. Hope you like.

Thanks for all the comments ,It is a gorgeous little thing and looks superb on display in its little ring case.Only seen one other like this,a 4 ribbon one same style.I would love to see more of these, please post a pic or two if you have one.I guess they must have made the die for this by reducing it with a panto-graph or by microscope,it's so small but the detail is incredible, some amazing workmanship for sure.

                          The clasp device measures 11mm X 11mm.

Thanks Jon. The size corresponds with the correct ratio. I've never encountered a EK2 clasp with this specific design and don't really know what to make of it. What bugs me is the size of the wingspan versus the date bar. I've run out of batteries in my caliper, but the ratio for a normal sized bar is roughly 1.12, also the 16mm stick-pin version. The early version device I have differs considerably, about 1.3. I estimate your's to have a ratio of approximately 1.5, which makes the design look almost like a hybrid of the two classes. Feel free to pm me your e-mail address and I'll send you a few scans.

                            cheers

Interesting observation on the date bar It does make it look more like an EK1 than 2 surly there must be examples with 1939 EK1 Repetition clasp out there.I'm new to mini's but they always catch my eye and I'm sure I will be adding more to my collection, fascinating for sure.
