    Cased EK1 Clasp.

I love this EK1 Spange, searched far and wide for just the right cased example.Detail is incredible, heavily silver plated and a perfect match for a Deumer EK2 I have in my collection and seems to have some of the same characteristics so I would be interested to find out if anyone can identify the maker.Had to raid Lakeside Trader for this fine high quality clasp ,first class service and very good price as well,so thanks LST.

    Spange

It is by Unknown maker and lately one was found with outer carton and marked Eugen Schmidhäußler. Jim

Great Schmidhäußler spange! Imo a very underrated early nickle silver spange.
      Kind regards,

Thanks guys,I don't recall seeing that name before,I searched on WAF and found this thread and perfect match as you say Eugen Schmidhäußler.I would have liked to have seen the one with the outer carton.

          yeah, agreed.
Do a search for 'the unknown maker' as it's commonly called
as for the EK2 spange you have there... IMO a can of worms!
          regards

Your EK2 Spange Design, is believed by some to be authentic and by some to be post war.

I am on the postwar side of that fence.

Either way I like both spanges, have read up on the EK2 clasp before and feel its worth a chance, one day it may be proven one way or the other but for now it has some extra mystery to it which I like.Certainly not the first one I have seen and seems to be a good talking or discussion piece in the meantime it helps me learn as it pulls me down various avenues of research as I try to form an informed opinion of my own.I will certainly be adding more of these birds to my collection, they are one of my favorite awards and its always nice to see in its case /packet or box of issue. Thanks for all your comments.

is the rear of the EK2 clasp marked?
                      regards
