    Unusual RK KVK

I just picked up this rather strange RK which having it hand I think must be some kind of period variant. I have not been able to match the wreath design to any cross real or fake so far. The cross is in silver and had a frosted finish which is largely worn away. It is marked 20 and 900 on the lower cross arms in tiny stamps but is very different from the accepted Zimmermann cross although the date design is similar.
The cross is struck and finished to a very high standard- has anyone who has studied these seen one with this design of wreath?

I am aware of the 4 types believed wartime being Deschler, Zimmermann, S&L and the unmarked cross with variant suspension. It matches none of those and nor does it match any of the rogues gallery of post war crosses that I have been able to identify.

A piece needing further research I think......

There is at least one prominent member here that is familiar with this particular design. I will PM him about this thread and perhaps he will chime in.

Thanks Chuck- do you mean the crosses made by Zimmermann or this particular wreath design? Have you seen one like this posted in the past?

          Many thanks

            Hi Patrick,

Looks very well made, I like the detail and the remnants of the frosted finish look very good to me. I also like the look of the stamps. Any chance of closeups of these marks? Do they match the "20" found on the typical Zimmermann pieces, or their DKs, etc?

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

              Hi Tom

The stamps are really small, much smaller than on a DK or EK1 although the first thing that struck was that the 20 stamp is similar in that the stroke of the 2 drops below the 0, so although the font is different it does resemble the 20 stamp found on Dks- pics aren't great but these might help...

I have had photos of this exact style cross shared with me for my opinion but have not had it in hand. The PM has been sent and I am hoping that it will warrant a response from the member who has handled such an example
