GErman cross in gold 10 rivets

Hello, every one.
Here is a gold German cross in W-A data- base.
Second from the top.

Is it original or not?

And a related thread about this cross.

The 10 rivet German Cross in the WAF data base is a known copy.
The data base was put together by the owner in 2002/03 and is meanwhile full of errors and completely outdated. The owner has been made aware of the problem several times. We discuss the fakes in the forum but in the general section they are shown as good. The best is to ignore the data base completely.

If you think so. I certainly don't. No Deschler wreath, no Deschler pin, no Deschler (early) rivets, ...

I am mostly a Paper Collector, the Awards I keep in my Collection are only those which have been given to me be Vets or Families. As I get the 10 rivets German Cross from the Vet himself for many Years (June 21st 1998) - for free - , just can confirm that Erich Olczyk DK is 100% original.

Everything is wrong with this cross - incorrect data, wreath, hinge, rivets. And poor quality.

One needs to study the original sources from the time. Patzwall writes in his book "Das Deutsche Kreuz" that it is without question that Deschler received in September 1941 an order to manufacture 2000 German Crosses. It is also accepted, that Deschler was the company who developed the manufacturing details based on the design of Prof. Richard Klein. It is also known from a letter dated 21. November 1941 that Dr. Doehle had given orders to four companies. These four companies were Deschler, Juncker, Godet, and Zimmermann.

It is also known from a multitude of documented groups (not just one ...), that the early crosses came from these companies and that the only genuine 10 rivet cross (there are other 10 rivets and even 12 rivets - all fakes) was made by Deschler and was made only for a very short time. They are extremely rare and they are all the same (wreath, pin, "rivets", ...)

Very often soldiers lost their awards or they were taken from them during captivity. Some even threw them away shortly after the war. When the times relaxed, they bought new pieces (and there is ample evidence that this happened very often). The assumption, that any piece that came directly from a German veteran is also the original awarded piece, is not always correct. That this "10-rivet DK" was given by the soldier in 1998 to the happy collector for free is not a 100% guarantee for originality and the facts speak clearly against it. For me it is a fake - for numerous reasons!
