    1st pattern Juncker ek1 clasp

    Hi guys

Jup, Giel finally managad to snap one up!! And with the Original ek1! I really like the clasp because of the variant set up which is very rarely encountered. I have only held 3 other pieces and all had the straight pin. Nice addition to this spange is the history. The lot where this spange was found in belang to Generalmajor Maximilian Hünten, commander of St Nazaire. The group was completely split up after it was found. Just these two pieces made it to my collection.

    Hope you guys like it!

          Variant

Not much more can be said, but I can add that I've never seen this pin variant before, so that makes it special to me, so Congrats on great find.!

            Congratulations Giel

Do you have an award date for the Spange for Hünten? My impression is that this pin setup is the very first Juncker used, and that these were awarded during the Polish campaign specifically. It'd be nice to have some confirmation of that.

In any case, you made a nice rare find. If you ever want to sell it....

Here is a comparison of the two setups:

In fact I recently discovered that Juncker used three (four counting the screwback) setups on their 1. Pattern Spangen.

The other one is similar to the more common "standing hinge" but utilizes the same larger hinge as this one you show, just standing on its end. For the regular standing hinge pin, the hinge is quite a bit smaller than the one your example shows. I can illustrate these two different standing hinge types later.

                Super Spange!

Ditto on the Congrats Gielgud. An especially Nice early variant Spange with a wonderful hued patina along with its matching EKI.

Thanks for the replies guys! Unfortunatley I have no clue when exactly it was awarded, but I doubt it would have been after '39
                  Kind regards,

All spanges were made (manufacturing )starting in 39...so it had to be between 39 and 45, but his records will reflect his date of issue. Nice one!

                            very very nice!
it is the 5th example i have seen in this year!
i have no sense about this badge, but now i fall in love with it.
Juncker has a very bad quality processings, but Juncker's eagle
was very nice as some of LW badges!
