    Ground Dugg Knights Cross

    Hello,

I am recently offered this Knights Cross, in ground dug conditions.
It came from Russia, and has the ring holding the ribbon replaced. So only the ring should be fake the rest should be period correct.

What do you guys think about it ?
Is it real ? And if it is real what should be the max price i should pay for it ?

What do u guys think that a real period correct piece would bring in this condition (not perfect, bit of rust)

A ground dug cross would never look this 'pristine' in the first place. I clicked on this thread expecting to see a rusty, dirty piece that has been in the groung for 70 or so years.....

This is not what i mean with ground dug,
I made a mistake calling it ground dug lets just call it rough

The seller said it came from a stash of Knights Crosses found in Russia in a box.
I dont know it the whole story is boggus, but the guy seemed legit. I jut want to know if the cross is real or not, and why it is not real.

What does the stamped mark say? Looks like "17"...

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Tom - Looks like "L/12", the most frequent mark on crap RK's.

Thanks Leroy, I think you are right, I see the "L" now. Good eye.

The photos are terrible, but it looks to have the large "19" in the date and the beading reminds me of the Latvian fakes we've seen on the forum of recent times. The ring is crazy. I wouldn't spend a cent on it even if it is real to be honest. Either save for a nice one or by a Souval, it will fill a spot nicely while you save for a goodie.

He handles his fakes well ... cotton gloves and all.

Most wear them to protect the medal, in this case its the other way round.
