    S&L KC

I been wanting to pick-up a nice KC for sometime now and I wanted everyone's opinion on a S&L KC Kai Winkler is offering on his web site. I know the issue of determining whether or not pre 1945 S&L made KC's are fakes has been beat to death and I don't want to start that again here. Please take a look at the pics and give me your honest opinions.

    Thanks

    Mark

                  hey Mark,

I believe this cross is already discussed on the forum. Most people don't like the 935 on the back of the cross, it's not a standard 935 you see with 935 & #4 marked crosses.

                  Experts give him some opinions.

                  Good luck,

                  Thomas

                    Hello all!
The 935-marked cross previously discussed on this forum was one held by H. Weitze. This is a different cross. G. Williamson's book has a 935-only marked S&L on page 312 with a close up of the 935 mark. I cannot tell from these pics whether this cross is the same as the 935 is not clear from the pics posted.

Not a great stamping is it! Deffinitely a good cross though. One thing that seems to crop-up in these is the '3' in 1813, the way it is squashed up against the silver frame, almost appearing to be leaning forwards a little. In this cross it looks as though the top right corner of the 3 of 1813 is actually impinging on the silver frame, causing it to buckle slightly where it can't sit right down.

                            -

If you want to feel really safe, buy one from Detlev Niemann. You have to bear in mind, that if you one day have to sell your cross, Niemann has the best reputation among the dealers (at least the German ones) and with a certificate from him you will have no problem selling.
On the other hand, you and only YOU have to be satisfied with anything you buy. You shall not only listen to "experts". There will always be good KCs around, so be patient.
                            Keep to the textbook pieces!!!
