KvK 1st class and EK1 - Both L/15 Otto Schickel of Pforzheim ? ? ? ?

Hello all,

Alright, so here is the thing, I honestly don't know..... There is a KvK marked L/15, and an EK1 in the Shinkel form, there is no marking. Were they both made by the same firm?

Also, is there a difference or is one just spelled wrong - Schickel or a Schinkel? I don't know if these names are the same, or are they different?

Please let me know either way. Thank you.

L/15 is the LDO maker marking for Otto Schickle, Pforzheim, who manufactured EKs & KVKs, etc during WW2.

A 1939 Shinkel EK1 would be better written as Shinkel-form. Shinkel was the original designer of the 1813 EK. What it refers to is that the very early 1939 EKs (1st and 2nd classes) were smaller than the specified/regulated 44 mm and had arm curvatures shaped more like Imperial EKs. 1939 Shinkel EK1s normally measure around 43 mm.

the denomination "Schinkel" (with a "ch") comes from the original designer of the Iron Cross, Karl Friedrich Schinkel (1781 - 18410).

Otto Schickle (also with "ch") was one of many producers of metals and orders in th eperiod of the 3. Reich and has nothing to do with the above. None whatsoever!

The confusion arises out of the very sloppy use of german names in the english world. Schinkel becomes Shinkle and Schickle becomes shikle and sooner or later nobody knows the correct names anyway anymore...
