Xiwan, I will try to show some photos of the prongs (although of course you really can't see them). I discussed the setup a bit in a previous post:

The Spange's prongs are skewered through the ribbon on one side only, then the ribbon is (rather elaborately) sewn closed along the outer black band (which you can see if you look closely at some of the larger photos). Since one prong is broken off, it's also sewn around the wreath as you can see (with blacklight dead white thread) to keep it on there. These combos were never worn like this, obviously. So unbending the prongs to remove the Spange from the tunic ribbon and refastening it to an EK2 ribbon sometimes caused breakage, I suppose. I believe surviving veterans sometimes mounted their Spange on their EK2 for display after the war.

...but you are quite right that a couple photos are worth a lot more than all that description, so I will work on making some this evening.
