    EK 1 - L11 Mark

    Hello All

Just wanted to say there is a wealth of information and some great resources available here. Another reason why you can educate yourself by doing your homework

I been following some of the threads regarding the L/11 EK1. A while back I purchased a cased EK1 (from a very respected dealer in 3rd Reich Items) with the L/11 mark, but unlike many I have seen here, it is stamped on the pin and does not have the / between the L and the 11.

I will post the links to the medal below. Wondering if some of the experts may offer some opinions. Thanks.

    It's a Floch copy, I'm afraid.

What's the give away? The maker mark itself? Or other features?

The maker mark, the pin, the beading, the date numbers. I have one of these myself.

          Thanks.

Here is a L58 Screwback. Any comments?

I don't see any problem with that one.

Was it common to have just L58 mark without the /?

                Hello,

Sorry to say, but I do not like this EKI at all. In my opinion it is a well-made, Austrian fake that has fooled many collector's (myself included) over the years. I do not like the incuse-relief 'L11' marking on the pin. To my knowledge, Deumer never marked their pieces in such a manner. The catch is also not proper for a Deumer made EKI. On the obverse, the date is not proper for a Deumer EKI, and the beaded rim is too coarse.
                Best regards! Tom

On the screwbacks it seems standard.<!-- / message -->

                    Hello,
For some firms such as Souval 'L58' and Rettenmaier 'L59', it is quite typical to find their markings without the /. Most of the firms with LDO licenses however used the / when marking their pieces. Deumer is one such company that seems to have used the / all of the time.
                    Best regards! Tom

That is right Tom, but they did put their mark on the pin in some rare cases:

                          Hello Frank,
Great, Deumer EKI. Thanks for posting that. Must be very rare indeed.
