Where have all the 'Rounder RK's gone?

    Hello All,

    Just a quick query....

I haven't seen a 'Rounder RK' pop up in a very long time (I mean the 'original' rounder fake that fooled many when it initially appeared, and NOT the pieces of junk being referred to as the 'new rounder').

I would imagine that whoever produced them would have made quite a lot of them as to cover the cost of production, but I haven't seen one come up for sale anywhere. Are these being held in collections with the vain hope that they may be classified as original some time on the future?

Has anyone else seen one available recently?
Not wishing to buy one, but just curious.

    Regards - Danny

Two have shown up here this week. I imagine there are many of them in collections and in on line stores. I imagine there are even some buried in the ground waiting to be sold as ground dug. They have actually been faked as can be seen on ioffer.

      Tony,

I know the ones you are referring to, but those two are the 'new rounder' types which look nothing like the 'original rounder'. I will try to find a picture of the type I mean.

That is a very good (and scary!) question! I have not seen one in a long time. Not here and not in the German fora. There were a lot of fakes at the SOS but no "original Rounder!"
I have more than 30 in my data base and not even one seem to have resurfaced. They have certainly thinned out since their introduction in the 70s-80s. I fear they are all in collections ....

          Thank you Dietrich.
That is what I was afraid of... out of sight and out of mind.

You know, somehow I think whoever bought then as originals (and for a price of an original) meanwhile does not deserve better. I can understand if somebody finds it hard to buy a book for whatever reason. But to buy a Knights Cross at the SOS w/o asking for a second or third opinion is just plain stupid. Not more and not less.

              So, no sympathy at all!

I don't believe anyone bought them, as they were still on the tables the last time I walked through.

On the bright side, there were more GOOD crosses at the show than I had seen in a long time.

Ah, yes, I understand. That is a very scary question. The fact that anyone is still trying to sell them as original is sad, but there are still those who are happy to buy without question. I imagine oOnly new rounders are ground dug.

Thanks Danny for The links, those old threads make very interesting reading -- just goes to show how opinions change (in this case the rounders originality)and that no one is infallible.I wonder what will be the next big change of "community"opinion?
