Juncker Knights Cross L/12 .800

A very nice KC It's not the first time I can see a deformed iron cross. In my opinion, we will never know what happened with that one. That cross survived during +70 years and if it could speak, it would have a lot of thing to learn us.

More nteresting food for thought. A Canadian bring back so I do not think post war damage.

But it could easily be, as it is now 71 years since WW II ended.

I played with WW II items, when I was a kid, and had no thoughts about value.
My now former brother in law lost a SS Officers Cap, as a kid. He put it on the bagage carrier on his bicycle, and when he came to his friends house, it was gone. No one of them bother to go back to look for it. It was only an old WW II item, so who cared. This was in the 70'ies.

But without rock solid provenance, it is impossible to say how the damage did happen.

But I agree, battle damage sounds more interesting, then just damaged.
But my thoughs about this Rk, this is going for all the "battle damaged" items we see on this forum. Without provenance, we have no way of knowing how the items got damaged.

1. it is a fake in the first place

2. there is little damage to the paint and core that corresponds to the "wartime damage" of the cross.

Take a closer look and be very skeptical of these "wartime damaged" crosses.

I hope you can uncover some new information, because I do see an original Juncker KC here and would be glad to hear why you belive the cross isn't authentic when others do belive/know it is.
