EK1 "24 Arbeitsgemeinschaft, Hanau" could we call it mint?

    Hello

Another rare EK1 from the maker "Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Hanauer Plakettenhersteller"!
This EK1 was borrowed from Weitze to make pictures for my database.
    http://www.ek1-dna.de/arbeitsgemeins...24-,-hanau.php

Usually it is hard to find such EK1 maker in a very good condition.

So could we call it mint?

        In my opinion, No.
For me "mint" means new. In same condition as the day it left the factory.
And this one are not in that condition.
Or is that just me that is wrong about the "mint" thing.?

          Hi Stefan,
A really nice cross, maybe near mint, but for me too mint means a cross like it was just taken out of its wrapper for the first time. I think the word "mint" is sometimes used a bit too liberally. I have seen items marked mint on threads in the e-stand just to find they are run of the mill and dissapointing.
That said, I think this cross is a cracking addition to your database or anybodies collection and certainly near mint for me.

          regards John

Depend if mint and unworn have the same mean.
I see an old patina and I see it unworn so in my opinion it 's mint.
But yes logically they didn't come out with patina from the factory.

I agree. Here's what "mint" means to me: BRAND NEW. It is a term we borrow from coin collectors, and it means it "looks as it did when it left the mint." (A "mint" is the English word for the factory where money is manufactured).

              Here is a mint item:

I think we can use the term "minty" to mean "almost mint."

"Unworn" means simply that's it's never been worn or damaged, but the years have aged it nevertheless.
              Best regards,
              Streptile

                Nice cross!.
But is seems, Stefan, that you do not subscribe to the latest and greates theory that "24" is just a misapplication of stamp by Fritz Zimmermann, i.e. 6=24?
