Strange EKII

I've found this cross during a little internet trip and appear one piece made only and no magnetic.

Somebody have other infos?

It looks like a fake, the suspension ring lug, beading, inner corners and that goldish coloured frame dont sit right with me

Nick got in quicker than me,But he is 100% correct.Bad bad bad.The suspension ring lug is the main Red flag.

That's was my first impression, but I learned never say never . If that resoult a fake get directly on my respective DB folder.

Yes Ross You have right, I detest fakes me too.
But honestly I think is much harder not recognize this like a fake..... the sharing is know how and if I know the fake I'm able to drive out it from the collection.
I'm not able to recognise ALL the worldwide fakes but all togheter we can make a good work.
My first thought was "it's fake", but I've seen so many crappy fake much more ugly than this and I had a doubt and I asked.

I deeply hate fakes and smugglers but this example may be a pre 1945 Spanish made Ek II for replacement of those awarded to the Spanish Volunteers of the Blue Division.
I am not an expert in Ek but I handled some of these an this one is not too far from some period Spanish made EKs

Over the past 3 or 4 years I have seen a grand total of 3
Not much if is a fake.

I have one of these as well., and IMO it's a period piece.
Was it an award piece?
I don't know
Who made it?
No idea

But, one in hand, it is very nice and convincing.

The goldish color means nothing more then silver plating migrated.
You can see the same one one-piece Schinkels, or even on some 3-piece Deumer Schinkel frames.


What's wrong with the lug??

I have no proof that it is authentic, but over the past years I have found a lot of nice and authentic crosses that no one liked and no one trusted.
Good for me .

If you don't want to miss out on nice stuff that isn't textbook, sometimes you just have to rely on gut-feeling and go for it (if the price is right)

Or you could wait until they show up on dealers sites as variations and pay a premium.

The "3" like a Klein und Quenzer or Schauerte & Höhfeld EKI fonts, IMO.
