Ian look at pic zoom it notice finish is uniform . Also pin is stamped not cast a release agent if possible is not consistant #1. Gold in question go to snyders treasures in visor caps surprize yes a gold ss cap eagle. However, this pattern was used and short lived on nsdap hats . I've been collecting many decades longer than you were probably born . I've handled them and original items and can forget more than most know. With that i'm leaving this forum thought it would make connections and possibly give me a challenge of my experience. . Advice know there are more variants changes in the short reich encluding personalizations that rationally would not be percieved. Even my knowledge is a drop in the bucket in the sea of info. . So wish all happy hunting schooling collecting etc happy new year. Signed a very old gus

Thank for the thoughts folks,
Before mudslinging, how about you wait for me to get additional pictures?
I don't want this thread to get messy, besides, your opinions (if expressed politely) give people like me a chance to learn and form an opinion of our own.
Cheers mates! Welcome to the forum hindlein!

You mention “The hat eagle is not SS it is early SA and gold is correct and in assman catalog.”
It’s curious that the eagle appears almost a brass based/gold finish and, I’ve seen these (having this color or base material) dismissed in other threads as being fake. I’ve always wondered why when early (jawless) TKs appeared to be made of a goldish type of material.
Any thoughts?

Hi, if the hat emblem is brass it is bogus however, brass looking would be due to age and poor storage. I own army eagles that have aged poorly and look dull grey and have them in excellent. As well as kreigsmarine cap eagles that are brass looking and correct. So unless item is handled only true way to say it is right. To show that the gold eagle exists go to snyders treasures . Com headgear german visor. First cap is ss with the gold eagle all 100 percent correct. Also, when this style eagle came out caps were private purchase and for a short time acceptable for the nsdap to use this eagle until a standardized one was 100 % accepted. Own many pieces in the 1936 time frame that are mixtures. Such as a model 36 lt col. Tunic with the early bullion swastica from the 11th. A weimer era unit . Even have pics of unit uniforms a total mixed bag of caps, helmets swords pants tunics . With without swasticas. So to the doubting thomas see the proof of a 100 % cap on the formentioned sight he is legit. Hope this saga helps. Happy new year to you and yours

It's a fake eagle as simple as that FULL STOP ! SA and Gold is good . It's a fake 2nd pattern SS eagle.
Shyster .. ermm I mean Snyder does occasionally (and probably by mistake) sell some originals but they are by far the exception. Take a look at his 'Sepp' Dietrich 'Das Reich' tunic for the standard of his wares
