    Oaks and swords

How about these oakleafs. Are they legit and original 1957 oaks and swords or copys ?

    Thanks.

I see only one problem here Peter. I've never seen such large silver stamp before.

It seems that everybody's eyes fall on that big 800.

First thing that caught my eye too.

They look like standard '57 issue to me.

Am I correct in saying that they look like S&L? Maybe if Peter can verify the eight dots on the sword.

                Hi.
Thanks for showing interest in the underrated area of 1957 awards.
I dont have the set in my hands. I have tryed to work a bit on the photo in Photoshop.

                Cheers.

There are a lot of so-called 57 Oaks and Oaks/Swords that are offered on EBay, particularly German EBay which are actually fakes, castings taken from genuine 57 pieces. Every genuine 57 set of Oaks/Swords I have seen uses the same small ribbon loop found on the Oakleaves alone. The excessively large 800 mark and the fact they have had a non-typical elongated ribbon loop would put me off these.

Interesting observation. So all 1957 re-issues should have a small loop? Very good to know. Thanks Gordon.

Thanks all. Thanks Gordon. I will leave this "1957 set" behind me and look for another one.

                      Cheers.
