Hello Gents,
I want to letting you know that the book project has been finished now, after 3 years of hard work.
On more than 1.200 pages, reader-friendly and in 2 volumes of 600 pages, is here established a hitherto unheard of in depth study of the subject. On more than 2000 pictures and macro shots all known manufacturers and their variants are discussed in detail, also probable manufacturer associations to unmarked pieces are made.
In addition here were discuss topics such as presentation, regulations and the historical background of this award. The manufacturing process of the Iron Cross is presented in an extensive photo series on no less than 35 pages with pictures of tooling, machines and with contemporary images of the production.
Besides the Iron Cross 1st Class itself, the Repetition Clasps are also handled. With highly detailed macro photos the differences of individual manufacturers are shown and described.
Rounding of the presentation of the book there are no less than 60 lavishly illustrated pages dealing with the topics of packaging and Miniatures.
Exotic examples of the Iron Cross 1st Class such as pieces of Japanese and Spanish manufacture are not missing as are such unusual one-piece or non-magnetic examples of the "Schinkel-Variant", for which the author undertakes a detailed manufacturer attribution. Finally the reader is given a "rapid test" with both the Iron Cross itself and the Clasps can be assigned by means of their distinctive features to individual manufacturers or designs.
The book is available from the December 2012 and will published in two layouts,
a standard and a special edition.
Both have got the same content just the outer design is different. The special edition comes in a slip case and the book itself is bounded in synthetic leather with silver stampings.
