Doug, with all the info and good helping members here, you didn't post a thread and show photos of entire collection as framed on the walls for opinions? Someone would have flagged it.

JT, if you knew others were using your photos in the past why havn't you put your name on them? Still they are sitting in the Collection Forum unmarked???

Admin, is it worth the effort to not allow photos on WAF to be downloaded? Dealers do it, can forums?

This forum and others are good at helping stop these people, but I think much more effort has to be made by the buying public.

Hi Kelly :
I did sent all pictures to a member that was with the forum from almost the beginning .
I searched for matches of some of these indevidual medals here and found none .
I had him send me specific views of some medals which he did . He lucked out on this big time , as he had lifted pictures to do the requested pictures , .... the back ground color was not as I asked for . I did not persue that .
I posted all the Luftwaffen Eagles here . It was too late , but weeks later eventualy someone from another forum recconaised one .
The collection set was never posted here on this forum , but pictures were lifted from another one .
Some money was sent as a bank transfer . It never got to the his phony account as that was only a clever setup - to prove bank transfer does not work . One clever guy that had to have been at it for awile .
Only a part payment was sent .

I did some steps , but obvious not not enough .

Douglas, you are correct. norsk41elv's [JT} collection was not listed in the collections forum. But it was there a short while ago. Seems because last update was in August it was removed, why?

I thought nothing gets deleted here unless it's by Admin? If this was still up, you would have had a better chance of someone spotting it or even you.

Anyways many of the frauders photos are there. I did a reply to it so it's posted again.

JT needs to watermark them all.

If I were you I would have posted the photos of the big collection set somewhere at WAF before proceeding with deal.

Kelly - it may have been that the owner of the collection had the pictures removed . Trying to remember what was said on the other forum .
In any case they already had been copied .

I was contacted by someone I didn't know (in either Bulgaria or Romania as I recall) offering up an item...much less money involved, but made me uncomfortable. When I told the seller we had a deal, but insisted on using an intermediary escrow firm for the transaction, he headed for the hills, saying he didn't want to provide personal data!

Another time, I had the "pleasure" of being offered a tunic already in my collection. I enjoyed stringing that one along for a while...

I posted an ad on the wanted section for an early S&L GAB and a chap called Manfred from Bulgaria contacted me. He sent pictures of a lovely GAB and asked for 90 Euros plus shipping of another 10 Euros.

Communication was good and frequent until he got the money via money order, then the weeks passed until I contacted hIm to ask where it was. Suddenly the communication dried up.

I did contact the Bulgarian Police because "obtaining by deception" is a crime in most Countries but I never heard anything else.

I know lads in Bulgaria and I really was tempted to "you know what", but I am fortunate enough to be able to lose 100 Euros and put it down to experience. It did leave a sour taste though, as it was my only bad transaction through estand.

I note form post 14 that this guy is slick - putting an original RK up on iOffer as an EKII... He was trying to appear clueless with regards to militaria to pull in someone who thought they could score big off his "cluelessness". Sadly, it worked.
