    Souval EK1 ? Opinions please

    Hi Guys,

I would be very grateful for opinions on the EK1 below. I think it is a Souval example - it has the die flaw on the top row of the 12 o'clock arm and the '3' of 1939 is lower than the other numbers. Is this a genuine example and is there any way of telling if it is of war time manufacture? I have heard that these are worth less than other EK1's - if so by how much?

Many thanks for looking and for opinions offered. I really have learnt so much from this forum.

    Best regards, Guy

My view is that it is a pre May 45 example. Others may disagree.

I believe it is good - at least it does not have typical post war setup.

I still need EK1's L/14 Screwback and Pinback.

Like Stu, I would also say this is pre- May 45 production.
Due to the usual traits of the manufacturer.

          Made during war, IMO

Personally I can say that it was made by Rudolf Souval, but nothing about when it was made. Souval is known to have used this frame, core and pin, after the war.

                Nice Cross

Here is one I received from the vet's son in October. The note is to his Dad from a buddy at Camp Goulette near Rosenheim where he "found" it. The cross is the standard Souval with darted corners and you can see on the top edge of the box Souval's Wien address. The paper slip was folded and tucked under the base in the case.
