A sad story about this DKiG, found in the crash site where Unteroffizier Blochberger died on June 24th, 1944, near Ecretteville-les-Baons/Seine-Maritime, France.

So Far,So Good.
Gentlemen,
It's almost four years since this German Cross topic was started. I know the replies are slow sometimes but good work is made so far. Still a lot of little known holders of the German Cross holders both gold and silver to be shown in any form. By the way the German Cross does look a fried egg or a cookie in appearance. Too bad it couldn't be eaten though. The German soldiers of the Wehrmacht had been going hungry at the front.
Sincerely,
Edward L. Hsiao
