When Dave was taking a mount out, at the MAX Show, I immediately caught a glimpse of that ribbon and wondered how he has MY Knight's Cross. I told him, after a closer look, that I had a nearly identical ribbon configuration. Now we can see the similarity in one thread.

In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king.

Duct tape can't fix stupid, but it can muffle the sound.

Very nice Bob! I can see now why you reacted the way you did. Do you have any history with the cross?

It was recovered from a crashed airplane in Tunisia in October or November 1944. Arabs were salvaging the crashed plane and one had scratched the paint, with a piece of metal to see if it was all silver. The US soldier took the cross and allowed the Arabs to take the Plexiglas from the cockpit.

This was relayed from the vets son, so I have no further information.

You Could guess that Knights cross holders would approach other wearers in their division/unit etc and ask how it was best attached to the collar. Purely speculation but you have to wonder if the owner of these two crosses ever met!!
