Buchner's last rank was that of an "Oberfeldwebel".

              Kind regards, Peter

Hi Peter, I have his last rank in the Luftwaffe as "Leutnant", and a postwar "Oberst" in the Austrian Air Force.

Very interesting to note the serious wear on the loop Gollob's RK. I guess one could get the ring built up again. I haven't seen that on a cross before, but it makes sense.

Andreas-Thies is currently offering a very large grouping belonging to Gollob, including his Oak Leaves and Swords.

The most Gollob papers was sold by Hermann Historica 2 years ago.
You can see it online! No knights cross , oakleaves and swords.

For interess the swords Mappe was
in Hermann Historica = 135.000 Euro netto sold (after auction)
Offer in the Thies auction = 95.000 Euro netto

                          - 40.000 Euro or the Hermannn Historica sold it for this price !!!

I think Tom asked me about the whereabouts of Krupinski's medals a few months ago. This is what I found regarding his original Knight's Cross:

"Following their light interrogations, they were taken by ship to Cherbourg, France. This was where Krupinski was assaulted, receiving a near fatal head trauma, courtesy of a French rifle butt as two soldiers stole his Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves. His log book had already been stolen by an American soldier before he went to England -

This comes from the wonderful book: "The Me 262 Stormbird", by Colin D. Heaton.

So, we can rule out the pictures of Krupinski's KC on this thread as wartime issue.
