Knights Crosses pulled from stocks by employees of the PKZ for award were pulled in no specific "order" as could be related to time of manufacture or delivery to the PKZ. They were pulled at random, IMO.

                exactly...

                one precedent

                awards period

                may 1944. 3-6 clock flaws

                november-oktober 1944. without flaws

General Balck, then the Commander of the 6.Armee, recommended and personally handed the Ritterkreuz to Szügyi, according to the article in the "Ritterkreuz Archiv" (RA). I was thinking, before Leroy's post, that the Armee might have had some supplies of Ritterkreuzes from the PKZ and that these might be consisted of earlier produced RK, viz. the "no flaw" S&L since I thought the PKZ employees might, perhaps, have had stacked the RKs with the newly arrived ones at the top and older ones at the bottom. And, that at some point earlier in the war when the stack of the "no flaw" S&Ls came in, there were some that were distributed to the Armee level. But, I don't think this assumption is possible as the availability of the local supplies, viz. at the Armee, was only possible at the earliest was at April'45, according to DM's book.

PS: Interestingly, I've since found out that the same author in the "RA", Kovács, also wrote "Die ungarische Inhaber des Ritterkreuzes des Eks". Would anybody know whether the book also show the Ritterkreuz pieces of the recipients?

Who are the recipients of the above you mentioned? Would it be possible to know BTW?

I agree with you 100% !! There is no way of telling a production date as related to award date ! Totally Random ! Tom
