honor Roll Clasp / Ehrenblattspange / Front made?

    Gentlemen,

this one I am posting for a fellow collector who is weak in English.
He got this award with some other stuff from a private person.
Obviously, it is self made from a coin.
The swaz is a separate piece connected to the ring.
Of course, we can never say when, where and why it was made
but at leats the original coin was determined.
It is quite a convincing production and certainly not meant to fool a collector.
Any thoughts are much appreciated (also "value" wise via PM if you wish).

    Best,
    taube.

Hmmmm. Can only say a couple of things. First of all I like it. It is a nice piece of handicraft. But as to why somebody would make this, I can only guess. Some sort of exam piece for an artisan? Value IMO would be low - anywhere between 20-100 euro?

But why a front made piece? This is no oakleaves and no uboat decoration.

One would have to know more about the availibility of decorations at the front.
Were they always at hand or came with the approval? I heard of front made KCs but not those EBSs so far.

I dont think there are any reason to do a handmade copy of a Ehrenblattspange but it could be that this one is frontmade to the new owner until he recived the original one

That is the only explanation I can think of as well.

I doubt it. The awarding of the Ehrenblattspange at the time IMO was not as big a deal as the DKiG or the KC. And who would be carrying these kind of coins at the front?

The Ehrenblatt as far as I know was in fact
a listing of a man's name in a special document of honor?
Did everybody awarded get the decoration or
wasn't it that the decoration was at some point eliminated
and only the "virtual" honor persisted?
Sorry if this is nonsense, I am more helmet focussed.

Usually when I see "front-made" in a thread title I roll my eyes , but I like this one.

I fear there's little chance of reaching a real consensus, but in my opinion it looks believable.
                              Best regards,
