Very interesting read Sepp, thank you. I find it interesting that some had their diamonds buried with them.

      Kind regards

        Thanks for the comments!

Just been informed the following corrections:

The platinum set of Erwin Rommel, as well of Sepp Dietrich, are with private collectors. Helmut Lent's document is also in hands of a collector.

        Regards,
        Sepp.

Unfortunately there are some people mad enough to take a spade..

Korvettenkapitän Wolfgang Lüth: awarded the Diamonds August 9th 1943. The files states that the silver set were buried with Lüth.

A very interesting thread. Are Rudel's gold oaks still with the family as well?

Funny thing to see that Andreas-Thies was selling a piece ("with diamonds") awarded to Luth... anyone knows the story behind this? Or maybe my German is not the best, but the price was 35.000..

                Here are the pics:

                Someone care to translate?

                Regards,
                Sepp.

This is a genuine Sword Set Type 2 which was "converted" to a Diamond set. It is speculated that Kapitänleutnant W. Lüht comissioned this to wear on board. This is a very interesting piece of the upcoming A. Thies auction (10. November) with a starting bid of € 35,000.-

The catalog says it comes from the family of Lüht.

Would be interesting to know if the family confirms the same.

Has the existence of this piece been known before?

Wasnt Erwin Rommel cremated? I read so, and i also read that they removed his medals before they cremated him. Dont know if its the truth, but i read it.

                            I think he wasn't cremated..

For any help, here's a photo of his funeral and the medals around his neck:
