    Potential buy?

    Stumped on maker ID'

No markings - any thoughts guys. One thing I thought a little unusual (if at all unusual) the suspension ring does not pass through the frame. Not exactly sure if this is indicative of a certain maker.

Maybe I've just been staring at it a little too long

    Kind regards

    D,
I think maker #100 (can't recall the name of the firm) uses that raised piece to attach the ring. I am not sure if any others do.

        Guy's

I was staring long and hard at a W&L earlier without paying to much attention to the suspension ring detail.
Instead I was looking at the '1813' configuration on the reverse, particularly the way the figure 3' was set with it's curled detail at the bottom.

I could only match that detail to the earlier '100' I had seen but was still a little unsure.

Hello D, as to your observation that the ring does not go through the frame, this is common or normal as the rings were soldered to the frame in most cases, you will find a few makers like Deschler with the jump ring soldered only on one side.

Nice W&L you have there, this makers crosses have a core finish that seems to really hold up, we probably see five near mint ones to every one salty one.
              Perhaps more than that?

and welcome to the Forum D, you will learn a lot here and meet some great guy's here in the cross section!

As to the cross - can't resist another shiny! Have this one on it's way soon. Hope to have some better shots later.

Sorry guy's - in an effort to try and bring a little more detail in, I can't get the shot size down.

Yes as Nick said ... Juncker has a simular jump ring hump - ( there are other makers that did this too ) .
Here is an example of a 3-flaw frame Juncker that often is mistaken for a W&L .... just to show at times small details are important and takes time to get a good eye for them .
The posted original pictures were quit small and sold as a W&L which at first I thought it was ... until I had it in hand . ... just to find out it was a Juncker cross . A less common visual Juncker variant a lot of members here with out hesitation at first glance would call a W&L !

Important small details ... like the same person made both crosses !

So is it safe to say that I could in fact be also looking at a Juncker here. From your shots Douglas, there does not appear to be that much between the two.

Quite interesting the amount of variants to one cross there can actually be. Nevertheless, I would be more than happy with either.

                      Kind Regards

                        No D ... yours is a pure W&L cross .
The other cross is a Juncker - easyly could be mistaken as a W&L cross - but has the cross hatched inner corners and the 3-flaw Juncker frame . I was showing this sample only to demontrate how differances can be subtle and not always easy to see .

                        Cheers Douglas
