When I look at that it reminds me of a KC Rounder fake .

I have one too and consider these a mystery.

They are routinely sold as fakes (+/-$60) and rare originals (+/-$400).

I lean towards original but I would welcome any more information or research. Where did you find yours Bernd?

Yours has a different sort of catch, rounded wire instead flat. It would make sense that these, if original, were early war since they have that textured surface on the core... But who knows....

                Hi guys,

                thanks for your opinions.

@collecter: yes, it is one peace

@streptile: I bought it a few time ago from the childs of a collector who died. The collector bought most of his items in the 1970s, but no more infos. I've got it in this box:

                  seventies plenties

The seventies saw a resurgence in reprofiteer manufacturing.
The collector you mentioned may not have known it himself.

                  Peto at point

I bought mine around 1972,it was well worn then and it came with a citation for about £10 ( the citation is ok)when I was just building my collection.Any way getting a bit more information( no WAF then)that EK's should be in three parts,so it was relagated years later to my re-en actment tunic. Then at a show talking to a dealer, who asked to see it,said it was keeper, calling it a 'economy model' and it was quite rare(again before joining WAF).Well I was'nt quite convinced and having seeing some examples on here I think they are early post war copys, but I do like the idea they could be period.John

Don't try to push a fake to a rare original! It will not work!
