The story runs that this award was owned by a German POW who was given the task of finding and defusing mines for his Allied captors. Judging from the denazified appearance it was probably put together in the camp shop, postwar... Interesting that the hardware seems to be from an EK1... Could POWs be given awards by their superiors in the camp?
