    Copy 3 piece knights cross

Picked this up from ioffer which arrived this morning - 3 piece RK mm '2' and '800' on both cross & ring - with case and outer carton - £29.00 all in - even Morigi sells his 3 piece at £69.00 (without P&P).

    Is it magnetic?

A good price for what it is.

Are the seams open or is it just the pictures? There looks to be quite a gap visible between the frames.
Also, what kind of quality is the case?

      Regards - Danny

Yes, the cross is magnetic and the seams are open on the one side (hope to rectify this) Case & outer carton are OK - recess in case for cross & ribbon are too shallow and there is no retaining clasp.

That's the cheapest one of those I ever seen on ioffer. At that price that's a very nice filler. I'll keep saving for a Souval though.

Do you have a link to the seller?

This one could be good as a "filler" till you find a original.
              Good price

Just go on ioffer and type in knights cross - you'll come across it pretty much straight away

Wehrpasswilly how would you go about filling the seams? Is it that there's a gap after the halves were joined or because they weren't joined properly?

I purchased one of these sets also (at that price you cannot go too far wrong).
It arrived today, and I have to say I am impressed.... although, IMO little bit of 'age' improves it somewhat.

I confess I bought one too. The thickness of flange on each half annoyed me, each half being made thicker to compensate for the fact that the recess for the core was not deep enough. So I split the halves open, filed each down to a flange thickness of 1mm, deepened the recesses for the core and glued it back together. I'm not yet good enough with solder to fill the joins, but the filing has made the frames fit together very nicely. The material used for both the frames and the core is nicely durable so there was no risk of anything snapping or bending with normal filing.

The result looks very nice as a filler, with the swastika almost up level to the beading. Hey, at $47 including postage, you can't go too wrong.

Its been all rather a good learning experience as I've begun to notice a lot more about the construction of real RCs. This is "ok" for what it is, but I still want a Souval. The big trouble after looking at lots and lots of picture is that I want a real one. A nice 65mm to go with my EKII 65mm would be very nice. Sadly I think hell will freeze over before that happens, but one can always dream.

Here's how mine turned out after all the extra tweaking. Won't win any prizes, but I like it..... for now. The idea is that that pretend frosting will rub off and the chrome will get its own nice patina over the years. When I grow up though I at least want that Souval.
