    Iron Cross Ring

I am not sure if this is the proper forum for this, but it is Iron Cross related so...

While cleaning out my Grandparents house we discovered this small silver ring. I initially thought it was a souvenir brought back from WWII by my Grandfather.

Some research has indicated that this could be WWI or previous. After talking to my father again I learned that my Great Grandfather served in the German Army in the late 1800's. He would never speak of his service and when asked would change the subject. It is possible the ring was his.

Has anyone seen one like this before? That is a standard size guitar pick next to it. it does appear to be silver. There are no other markings on the ring.

    Hello:
The ring is a fairly common piece of "patriotica". There are many variations (and reproductions). The motif is a 1914 Iron Cross Second Class- it could have been made during or after WWI.
    Regards,
    Kent G.

The only marking on the ring is the iron cross on the front. The rest is devoid of all markings.
