Manufacturing of the Knight Cross loop.

Manufacturing of the Knight Cross loop.
    How was it done ?

These are the stages i´m thinking of:
    Cutting the wire.
    Grinding and polishing the ends.
Marking with silver content and sometimes with the maker.
    Shaping the loop.

In what order ? I saw a loop here with the 800 mark on the inside of the loop. Another one had the 800 mark very close to the wire end.

    Thanks.

    Peter,

I think your thoughts are correct and also the order.

Stamping the silver content number and the makers number (if any), before the silver wire was bended in a paperclip shape would explain why the content number in on the inside of the paperclip. This would be very difficult to do after shaping the loop.

Did they cut the wire by hand or by machine, are all the loops in the same length?

    Greetings Thomas

The loops were wrapped around a two post jig to ensure conformity of size and shape.
