EK1 Waechtler & Lange, Mittweida - Very interesting variant!!!

FACT #1: "Adolf Hitler basically was in charge of official decorations and awards. Präsidialkanzlei des Führers and its branch the Ordenskanzlei exercised control over the production of decorations and selected companies that would be awarded government contracts."

FACT #2: "You will not find any EK1 marked PK (Präsidialkanzlei codes) without iron core!!!"

If you have any EK1 PK (e.g.: "[100]") marked EK1, which have a none magnetic core, please make me an offer

EXEPTION: This EK1!!! It was marked "[100]", but this core was none magentic (no iron material) and marked at first with PK mark "100" are rework with maker mark "L55"!!!

    Very interesting variant
See the 100 mark if your turn the picture of the mark 180°!

Please send me offers of any Original PK marked EK1 with none Iron Core EK1 :

IMO this EK1 is a reworked EK1 to hide a non-conforming production batch.

<<<<< IMO ULTRA RARE VARIANT >>>>>> and it will be an other EK1 for my EK1 data base " www.ek1-dna.de "

I will call it double marked W&L

Very interesting W&L you have there Stefan, i would say pretty unusual a re-marked cross like that.
What do you think the core is made of?
I have seen others non magnetic W&L brass cored but in this case it looks like something different.
On the 9 o'clock arm there's a dark area without paint that i believe is not brass, right?
    Many thanks,
    Stefanoi

        Interesting over-struck pin .
I can think of 2 possibilties here:
W&L ran out of L55 premarked pins and to finish this cross took an already marked 100 pin and restruck the L55 over the 100 and attached the pin to the cross . Quicker this way than to run a new batch of blank pins - just for the one or two ? pins that were needed .
Then there is your senario that they had these 100 marked crosses already made up with not magnetic core - that they could not( no longer ??) use - be it intentionaly or assembled by error with the wrong marked pin . Quickest way would be just to over-stamp the 100 than switching out the already mounted pins .
W&L seams to have been using non-ferrous cores right from the start . One finds plain painted tombak/brass cores and Ni plated solid brass and copper cores ( solid Ni cores supposed to exist as well - still looking for a W&L one - have one by S&L ) ! Any Ni plated core makes it quit difficult determening what is underneith . More likley to find solid coper cores with W&L 1st dies frames .

Douglas I think your first theory might be the closest, here is my magnetic W&L originally marked 100 and over stamped with L55

            Hi Chris,

A very good additional aspect Hope to find a PKZ marked none iron cored EK1. OK, your EK1 is magnetic, so your EK1 building a 3rd theory! Like S&L. They remarked some EK1 which were out of an overproduction and remarked them.
