EK1 cased with Kesselring signature. The EK1 is marked 26 with some scratches on top of cross. Document signed by Kesselring in ink not stamped. Is the document smaller than most and does it look authentic? I need a better camera. Thanks DR

But I add too that cased EKI and document do'nt come together, that EKI set most probably is dated 1943 or so.
Of course, the source it came from would be key to that too. If it truly came from a family, it could well be. If it came from anyplace else - dealer, collector, estate service, etc. - it would be more suspect.

Crosses bought in the militaria shops were unmarked before about mid of 1941 and marked after that date following the LDO list.
This was the rule and 99,9% of cases was applied, but yes there are rare examples of replacement marked with the PK stamp.
Personally I always doubt when I see these incongruities after have seen a mountain of "after-war put them together".
In this thread we have a marked 26 with the stardard case by Mayer, for the official award, neither the case is LDO marked.

Unfortunately I traded for this set from another collector and he from another so I have no real history on it. When I sell it at some point I will disclose this to the new owner. Is this award document the standard size at 5 1/2 in. x 7 1/8 in. ? I am not knowledgeable on crosses and award documents. Thanks DR
