Spanish cross in silver, 835 marked, for review

    Hello,

I've been offered this cross so I'd like more opinions from more experienced collectors.

835 are popping out for years now, so I just want to triple check everything. Thanks in advance!

No need to worry, stunning original piece

Love that verdis gris around the catch, it shows that this piece was hardly worn but never cleaned!
          Kind regards,
          Giel

I would be easily fooled if it is not original....great finish on it.

            Cheers,

            Glen

              Yes, the finish is stunning.
I am asking as it's "too good to be true", but also as there are many 835s going around these days, so I want to be sure.

                Hi,
The cross looks genuine. It is a Deumer production. Some pop up time to time, but few in such good condition with silver wash still on it.
I guess that these crosses were among the official production awarded on May-June 1939 to the volunteers of the LW, Heer and KM in Döberitz.
Deumer produced very nice detailed crosses, and to my opinion, with better finish details than Juncker or Meybauer.
                regards
                Jacques

After I expressed my doubts about possible cleaning, the seller admits he has the D. Niemann's expertize and sent me the scan, which gives me a proof that the cross was really cleaned.

I believe that the seller has bought the cross like it's now, and previous owner cleaned it before (there are some other cases of that activity with the previous owner strangely appearing in the story).

From this pics I cant see that the badge was cleaned! Look details on front and back side they re the same. Maybe is photo on D.N.expertise a little more yellow and dark do not worry the cross is not cleaned for shure and the cross is the same in in very nice condition!
Bye the way congratulations on very nice Spanish Cross by Deumer !

                        Hello,
It is difficult to say if the cross has been cleaned but for sure it is the same cross. The same dark points can be seen on the pictures, if it has been cleaned these points should have deasapeared. I would say that the tarnish colour is due to light used to take the picture.
                        Just my 2 cents.

I don't think it was cleaned. The Niemann pictures are very dark (they were never really that good). The obverse of the Niemann picture is for sure not a real representation of the cross at that point in time.

No matter what, it is a great cross in beautiful condition and the "cleaned" or "not cleaned" issue is IMHO irrelevant.

                            Hi guys,

In my opinion, this cross was cleaned. Looking at the reverse, top left arm you can see that there is some pretty dark areas on the Niemann pics, but they are almost completely gone in the new pics. I don't think this is just dark pics from Niemann, but a cleaning with a product like Tarn-X IMO.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

This is not about a cross, it is about exposure. If you expose against. A black background versus a white background you will have different highlights and details. This is a photographic exercise.
