    EK II for opinions

I would like to get your opinions on this one and if possible the maker. EKs were my "weak link" always.
    Thanks in advance,
    Andrei

As Wik says it's a Souval. If not marked they can be recognized by their rounded inner corner beading, extended center bead in each of the eight arm outer corners and the small horizontal die flaw connecting the 2-3-4 beads along the top of the 12 o'clock arm.

          Regards,
          Stu

            Hi Andrei

I agree with the others - it is 100% a Souval. As Stu says they are an easy one to spot - especially with the outer points of the arms with their distinct \|/ shape.

But is it period Souval or postwar production?

                Hi Andrei

It is almost impossible to say 100% for certain that your EK was made before May 1945. Souval did use a different set of dies at some point after the war to produce 'new' EKs -- but I don't think anyone knows for how long after the war he used his war-time dies to keep producing 'old' EKs.

The best you can conclude is that the cross you have has the war-time characteristics and is probably war-time produced.

Adrian over at War Relics has produced a guide the the war-time and post-war Souval characteristics.

                http://www.warrelics.eu/forum/1939-e...val-ek2-18639/

You can see why some people avoid Souval's completely
