    Interesting 1 piece EK2 1939

Just found this very unusual cross which in hand appears to be period. Non magnetic with silvered edges which have toned and tarnished as I would expect to see on a wartime cross.

Not having ever seen anything like it I searched and found a cross posted by member Ausgang in 2009 which is a match.

Note also the very large suspension eyelet on both crosses

For me this is a period item, what do you guys think?

    many thanks

    Patrick

I'd want some kind of provenance, or a price tag of about $5.00.

Just my opinion, could well be wrong.

I have not a good feeling with this one, in my opinion it 's fake.

The trouble now is that something made 30 years ago could have that much patina. I have no idea so it will be interesting to see what people say. For a newbie, were one piece crosses "field" made or produced that one by companies? I remember seeing a picture of crosses being made on board ship (I think).

Tony, they were both field made and made by some companies.
The companies made them in the first part of the war only, it ended when the LdO rules kicked in, in 1941.

            best regards,
            Ben

I'm sorry, this is not a contemporary piece

Damn, I think this may be a match with my one piece, everything looks the same except mine has a hump where the jump ring attaches to the cross. The dates are certainly the same... Never will know on these though, chuck it in the mystery box...

Oh, sorry I see now that you put a link to these pictures already
