Today I was at the flea market and found a cross. It is special for me
    That is mm 24 with a X

It is common to found when the cross is with an addition maker?

      Nice double marked 24 !

Very nice # 24 ! The other mark is I believe a clover leaf that the #24 maker added to many of thier crosses. Why & what it means remains anybody's guess ????? I picked one up in the 1970's and have asked many people, but never got a "for Sure" answer.

Yes its a nice maker 24 and that x mark on the suspension ring is a quality mark imo.

            I agree with Stickgrenade

I think StickGrenade has got it right, its a quality mark. I was told the "x" was a clover leaf ??? Being a quality mark would explain why some have the "WR" initials also. Tom

These are commonly found with "acorns" "x" or clover leafs and various other symbols. The "24" crosses are some of my favorites and I think an underrated maker as far as quality and how nice.

I don't have a ton of research into them or anything, but it makes sense to me that because they were a guild of jewelers, some used specific marks to signify who within the guild made them. As I said I have no proof, but it makes sense, at least to me

Its a very nice cross. Has the suspension ring come away from the frame on the rear or has it been re-soldered?

In my opinion it is probably to identify the maker in the guild responsible for that EKII so that quota/quality can be tracked back to that maker. This is still a common concept in manufacturing today.

Here is an unmarked '24' with an 'X'

                      Thank you for your posting
I am pleased that you have written over 24 with the addition maker.

The suspension ring has only one bladder. Probably you forgot to remove the bladder.

I'll put it in next week for sale.
