    EK1, one piece L15

    Hello Gentlemen,

Heres something that I picked up today. I noticed that this EK is in fact a one piece manufacture and non magnetic. I also managed to dicipher the maker as being the dreaded L15 without /.

I have read through many back threads but all seem pretty inconclusive as to the originality of some pieces. My question to you, is this an authentic, pre 45 cross or have I also been Flocked now.

Please state any thoughts or comments that you may have on this.

    Thankyou. Skip

As you have probably realised I am a novice with EKs.

      Dear Skip,

I have two of these on file, they arein my "undecided" folders. Viewed from the reverse, they are an exact match to the Floch fakes, down to the maker mark.
From the obverse, quite everyting is different from the Flochs:
      -beading
      -beading curves
      -date
      -stippled core
      -swastika

The same reverse as the Flochs is condemning. The only chance for these crosses could be that Floch was using original L15 reverse hardware for his fakes.

Then again, the L/15s I believe to be original are the very different looking ones with the "/" in the maker mark.
      Cheers, Frank

I was referring to L/15s like this one as doubtless originals (I have this one from the vet):

I dont know if this can help some. I have been searching for L15 marks all over here, and i did find the mark some different from the Floch. This pics are from my L15 whit Souval frames and core.

Note the dipping or lower 5 in L15.

Then in all fairness it has to be said that these stippled core ones also seem to have the dropping 5. Can you confirm that for your cross, Skip?
              Cheers, Frank

                Guys,

I must admit that I can hardly see this stamp. These are the very best pics I can get of it. What do you think?

                    Mikael,

indeed it is very hard to see. On the very top pic of the MM it would appear to really have the hanging 5 and through a loupe I think it looks like it as well.

It is not silver. At a tip I would say brass but it is not soft so that you can bend it.

Yes i think i can see a bigger 5 in some picĀ“s but im not shure. All i can say here we got another mystery L15. Untill some can say those L15 are bogus and then i include the one in Gordons book, that also have the dipping 5. I think its a keeper if you find the dipping 5 there.

                            Man, this is getting confusing!!!!

I have to agree with Frank and say that the reverse hardware looks like the work of Floch, and if Floch stuff is fake then this has to be a fake if it has Floch hardware attached.

I must say that this is only an assumption and I would be interested to hear what the other Forum Members have to say.

                            Regards,
                            Brett

Maybe Floch got his hardware from a legitimate source and applied it to his illegitimate pieces?
