I can't tell if it's Neusilber or real silver. The center is magnetic.

Thanks Guys....most helpful. I'm sure non MM L/12's are out there....but thats only my opinion. I like to see them at around 31g with the loop.
Some really nice crosses posted...thanks again

which is not 31 gr for sure, but some parameters like "damaged" RK have to be considered in the variation of the weight, even if it is going from 34 to 32.5 rather than from 31 to 32.5, well IMO

          Also, ........... well later

            weights

This is a bit of a mystery but I just noticed on Detlev's COA that he wrote 'weight 34.44 with ribbon'--I'll have to break down and buy or borrow a digital scale to see what the cross and loop weigh--it must be lighter without the ribbon!

What about provenance?Surely this must impact upon the overall value?
As the proud owner of Otto Baum's RK I would expect -alongwith letters, photos etc- the value of a cased L12/800 in excellent condition to be higher than the anonymous version?

I agree with you Kyle. You make a very valid point here. If the recipient is known the price of a RK is (or should be) higher then an anonymous RK.

Is it possible you could post a sharp photo of that cross ?

                    Thanks alot.

Well gents I would loved to post but I do not own a digi, however if you access Kai's archive Baum's RK is there .In addition to the RK I have acquired numerous period photos of Baum at Demyansk and also post war personal items POWfiles correspondence.Perhaps more interesting is the stuff pertaining to HIAG or the Old Boys Network of the Waffen SS.One item is the funral card alongwith a booklet dedicated to "Pap"Hausser. The bearers at the funeral in 1970 include high rankers -Baum is one and is photographed. One day some mate will do the honours and I will post the lot.
