Please don't think I am making any untoward comments about this cross I am more curious than anything else. I thought that the KC's had their cores painted prior to the assembly process?
I noticed that in a couple of the shots provided by muetze that there is overpaint or overspray if you like on sections of the frosted beading which gives the impression that the core was painted after completion of the cross. Is this something that was done by S&L exclusively as I don't think I have seen this before.
Please forgive my ignorance in advance, but seeing this is an educational forum I saw no reason not to ask.
Not uncommon. S&L did paint the cores before assembly. Sometimes, if the paint had blemishes, it would place a template over the frame and respray the core and sometimes this overspray "leaked" onto the "walls" of the frame.
