    EK1 "100" marked

    Hi again guys,

Here is the other Ek1 I'm considering to buy. Your thoughts as ever are appreciated. Its been valued at US$400.

Its being auctioned this Friday. I'm leaning more towards the "26" Meyer I put up in my earlier thread:

    I'll post better pics tomorrow.

$400.00!!! Far too high. Perhaps if it were mint and cased...

Totally agree! $400 is far too high for this cross. I love Waechtler and Lange but not $400 worth.

            That's CRAZY!

$400.00 for that!? I wouldn't pay $50.00 for that POS!

Here's a near mint "100" with a case and I wouldn't pay $400.00 for this one either. In fact out of all my EK1's, this one is my least favorite!

For that kind of money, you should be able to buy at least three really decent EK1's , maybe not with any cases, but crosses that are so much nicer to look at IMO.

The problem is, and meaning no offense to anybody, is that there are collectors still out there willing to pay or even consider paying this much money for such a terrible looking piece. Only drives the prices up without merit and is of no value to collecting. Only expressing my opinions here.

Yep..my thoughts exactly...are those rust ripples and corrosion I see around the swas or is it the flash playing up?

I better clarify and I have a bad habit of doing this ...the cross is boxed although it looks rather plain...

Anyhow, thanks I might go for the 26 instead. meriksson were you serious about selling me a "mint" 100 for that price?

The case does add value, but not that much unless it's marked by the same maker and in really good shape--again, in my opinion. I honestly have a hard time paying an additional $100-$150 for a cardboard box, unless it's REALLY nice. The prices these sellers (dealers) are charging for these is just greed.

You can do much better for that kind of money.
