ek 2 converted towards KC

Hello Nick ,


It is stricking to see how these so called converted ek's are popping up recently => without good proveniance they are worth nothing more then a simple Iron cross 2 nd class IMHO .

There was a thread here recently about the smae issue and there was shown a original conversion ek 2 with documented proof ( towards a LW KC holder ) , i would never touch such a piece for my own collection without wel documented proof.

Just my humble opinion ,

Ofcourse you can see that this is not ment to be an RK, but sometimes an RK winner uses a EKII to replace his RK when he was in combat. It wasn't a real loss if you lose or damage your replacement RK.

I know the fact that some KC winners used a EK 2 as a replacement and most of these are worn because at the time being of the award there was probably no original KC present , etc ... but those are to be seen as the exeption however IMHO .

Why would most KC holders bother to wear a EK 2 on permanently base when they could easely buy a new KC ? ( either trough LDO outlets or trough the official Prasidialkanzelei ) . or when the fact was proven that they did loose it without own guilt ( lets say => due to a combat situation ) they where allowed to receive a new one for free ( as with other combat and valor awards ) !!
