Cased and unmarked EKI - opinions, please.

Hello. As this is my first EKI (and I really have absolutely no knowledge when it comes to medals) I'd like to get some opinions.
I couldn't find any marks on it.

    Regards

Thanks for your quick reply, Nick.

            I've got some further questions:
            • Why does it have no markings?
            • According to its (and the cases) condition, is it still collectable?
            • What might be a fair price for both?

The case is my opinion is a genuine ''mid'' to ''latter'' period example in this very guise; that is, an estimated period.

The case shell in this instance is of the more conventional form, with what has what I call the ''vacuum'' lid liner - as it is sealed around the edges and has a slight convex appearance - and indeed a more latter used thin cardboard base. To fit these base types they would scribe the underside and fold over the edges to fit it into the case lower half, which makes them very delicate, so don't remove the base.

This very type of base is also devoid of any maker/construction code or lettering and has this rather unflattering finish applied. Although, every effort is made to enhance the base with the the incuse border too.

Regarding the catch system, I would imagine is the ''spring=loop'' type, which is one of two catches I know of in these particular sorts of cases.

              Kind regards,

              Marcus

Not all crosses are marked. You can find examples of every maker that are unmarked!

Marcus is top notch with knowledge of cases and I am not, so he took care of that lol

As far as collectable, it all depends on the collector. The one thing about Souval is there are many post-war made crosses as well using their stock and so sometimes it can be tough to narrow that down (pre '45). In the case of a wartime production and being cased as well, as long as your price is right, you shouldn't have any issues selling.

The value is tough. It can vary, especially on the buyer. In my opinion I dislike Souval crosses quite a bit, so it would have to be a sweet deal for me to even consider. But there are plenty of folks reading this who may really like them.

Thanks "Wik" and "Marcus Hatton". That was plenty of information.

I've traded that EKI & the case for a set of documents some days ago at the German MFF. I probably won't keep it as it isn't my field of interest.

                  Regards
